It’s Pretty Weird

We’ve assembled a couple tracks that don’t fit into any specific genre but have serious groove and will probably be some of the weirder tracks in your playlist.

Modeselektor – German Clap

I can vouch for the fact that this track  captivated the entire Mojave tent at Coachella last weekend. Check out their visuals in the video below and you can see why.

Ramadanman – Work Them

Work them on the dancefloor!

Scuba – The Hope

Seriously weird peak time banger, got the system.

Bang That 303

Spencer & Hill – 303 (Acid Mix)

Fun acid track that packs a punch but doesn’t bang too hard. Found this gem in a James Zabiela set!

Manuel De La Mare & Alex Kenji – Acid as 303

Acid techno that builds slowly into a peak warehouse anthem.  These two have been on fire for the past couple months.

Paul Chambers – Snowing In Moscow

Minimal steam engine operates at a fuzzy  frequency and builds into some subtle electro. Well done Mr. Chambers.

Unified Theory Part 1

The Belgian boys are back! Lab coats covered in techno grime, Jonas Kiesekoms and Maarten Elin, the two masterminds behind the alias, Mumbai Science, have doctored up part 1 (of 3!) – yup, you read that right: THREE-, of their current EP series, Unified Theory. These guys specialize in taking modern electro sounds and morphing them into hard, rhythmic techno. This originality has brought them well-deserved support from Boys Noize to 2manydjs as well as putting them on the forefront of major label, Lectroluv! This time around, Mumbai Science explores a wide variety of genres like “New Beat, Future Techno, Acid and Electro”, taking the word “eargasm” to another dimension. And now, it’s time for a taste:

Wild World

Nobody knows House music better than the eclectic duo, Daddy’s Groove. The European sensations got their big break via Axtone Records, teaming up with label head, Axwell, releasing a ground shaking remix of Nothing But Love. Shortly following their big debut, producers all over the world, like #1 DJ David Guetta, wanted the magical Groove touch. Wild World is a full blown future #1 hit, already gaining precedence in DJ sets worldwide. With flowing, feel-good synths, melodic piano lines, and pumping bass, this complete track will bring back that sunny feeling of  being at a summer festival! Getcho’ Groove on!

Resident Advisor Top Acts of 2011

For those of you who, like us, CANT STAND the DJ Mag awards. Here is a much better recap of the heavy hitters this year from Resident Advisor. There’s an emphasis on tech house, progressive, and techno…which is fine with us because these guys deserve the credit. We also like the fact that they have a category for DJs and a different one for live performers.

Congratulations to Justin Martin & Claude VonStroke  for showing the world how we do it in SF and finishing in the top 100. Dirtybird Records all day.

Claude Vonstroke (Dirtybird) at #39

Justin Martin (Dirtybird) at #79

Bromance #1

The DJ’s DJ. Producer Extraordinaire. Brodinski.

Hailing from France, Brodinski has been taking names and climbing the charts from when he first burst out into the scene in ’07 with his debut track, Bad Runner. Since then, he has gained recognition and praise from literally every big name in the industry (Jack Beats, Soulwax, Tiga, N so much moar!) What makes him so unique is his uncanny ear to blend all genres without breaking a sweat. His music combines bass heavy house, smooth minimal, and cutting-edge techno. Don’t sleep on this man because he’ll break your neck.

This past weekend Brodinski, along side Gesaffelstein (say that 5 times fast), released an epic 2 track EP, Bromance #1, to kick off his newest label, Bromance (whew, that was a lot of “bro’s” in one sentence)! The title of his tune speaks for itself. It’s 5 AM and the party has just begun. The track is a masterpiece of  phat, punching basslines over bouncing, hypnotic synths and smoooooth vocals. It’s okay, take 1 more….Go to that happy place….”and let the beat control your body”……

EDITORIAL PICK: ATTAQUE

Producing banging, hard, driving, warehouse acid, fucking techno music is Attaque’s  forte and he’s mastered it. This British DJ has earned support from my favorite tastemakers  Mumbai Science, TWR72, NT89, and Brodinski so I’m still shocked I haven’t seen him booked out here on the west coast but it shouldn’t be much longer.  All it took was one remix of a Japanese Popstars  track to get my attention. I  browsed through Attaque’s soundcloud was pleasantly surprised to find five more banging  originals.

Attaque was exposed to electronic music at a young age and cites Laurent Garnier as one of his early inspirations. It was after moving from Colchester to Brighton that he released his first EP on Bad Life Records. It was very well received and was even called the “track of the month” by Mixmag. Since then he has returned to Colchester where he continues to produce. After doing some more research about Attaque, I was able to identify one of my favorite ID tracks from Hard’s 2 day Haunted Mansion in Los Angeles. It won’t be much longer until Attaque becomes a household name, be warned.

Boys Noize on Cocoon Recordings

We know you know Boys Noize but we LOVE this release. Not what you would normally expect from the BNR boss but its exactly what I would like to see him do more of. He’s always had an acid warehouse electro sound and with this release he dabbles more into the dark tech house side. Cocoon Recordings is one of the most well known and respected labels out there and I can say first hand that they throw some of the best events I’ve ever attended. The two of them together is unbeatable. Boys Noize as always, is at the top of his game, is there anything he can’t do? Probably not…
